Looking Up Codes

Many fields in mySelect require an explicit selection from a list of system codes; similar to the F1 functionality in CSCnet.

mySelect allows you to select from a drop down list. If the list is very long, the field will be indicated with a globe icon Button_Globe to its right . Clicking the globe icon opens a search dialog.

How the Search Dialog Works

Toggle_ExpandedControlling what is displayed

The dialog contains a filter area and a results area.

To filter the list

Filtering a list narrows the number of items displayed in the Results Area to a value you enter in the Filter Area.

1.In the Filter Area, enter a value in the field on which you would like the filter applied.

2.Click the Search Button_Search button.  The list is filtered on that value.

To see the entire list

After applying a filter, to see the entire list again, click the Clear Filter Button_ClearFilter button.  The list is refreshed, showing all items.

A specific item in the list

Click the ico_plus next to the item.

All items in the list

Click the Expand All Button_ExpandAll button.  Each item in the list is expanded to display more information.  The button changes to the Collapse All Button_CollapseAll button.  Click it again to collapse the detailed display.

Toggle_ExpandedWhy is the Dialog empty?

Some dialogs don't display any rows in the Results Area.  The reason lies in the interest of system speed.  In this case, you would enter text in one of the fields in the Filter Area, then click the Search button.  This supports a quick response because the results are filtered by the text you entered.

Example: How to Look Up a Plate Type

1.Click the Globe Button_Globe button next to the plate type field.  The Plate Type Selection dialog appears.  Notice, it is empty.

2.If you know any of the letters of the Plate Type Description of Plate Type Code names, you can enter it in the Description field.  Or, you can simply click the Search button to see the list of plate types.

tip20pxPressing the Enter key can be used to start the search rather than clicking the Search button.

3.Scroll through the list to find the plate type you want.

4.Click the Button_Select button next to the correct plate type.  The Plate Type Selection dialog closes and the Code and Description are populated in the appropriate fields in the transaction form.
